James is responsible for security and intelligence issues. Based in London, he leads on PROTECT, a programme for NIF and portfolio companies that counters threats to intellectual property through cyber, human and financial vectors.

Prior to joining NIF James worked for the UK Government in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office for fifteen years, which included postings in the Middle East and South Asia. He began his career with Shell, joining as graduate entrant in the downstream business before moving to Corporate Affairs.

James has an MA in International Peace and Security from King’s College London. He is passionate about aviation, has a PPL and is happiest either in the sky or being firmly grounded by family and a recalcitrant Beagle.
